One Hot Grill has struck my curiosity for some time now.  Being in the heart of St. George and seeming to be doing pretty well, I had expected this restaurant to be pretty good.  They seem to heavily advertise their hot dogs so I thought I would give one a go.

We immediately noticed it was rather smoky inside.  It wasn’t crowded, but it took a good 5 or 6 minutes to be recognized by any of the employees.  I suppose they were giving us good time to look at the menu?  Their selection is pretty vast with 13 hot dog options and a good number of burgers and sandwiches as well.  I went with the Chimi Dog and a side of onion rings to share with my partner who ordered the Philly Dog.  We ordered right before a rush that lined customers up almost out the door too.  And good thing we did because it took pretty long for our dogs to come out.

I must say their dogs are pretty good!  They’re a pretty good size and have a nice snap with good consistency and flavor.  The deep-fried tortilla on the Chimi Dog was tasty as well, but I wasn’t too impressed with the chili or the amount of it that they used.  It tasted like something you could find in a can at the grocery store.  The Philly Dog was quite good.  The bun was warm, soft, had poppy seeds, and didn’t get soaked through by all the toppings.  The peppers were a bit slimy for my taste, but again the flavors were good.  I was honestly most impressed by the onion rings.  Would definitely order those again.

We finished and left before they got through 4 customers after us.  Overall, I’d give One Hot Grill 3.5 out of 5 stars.  If it weren’t for the slow service it would have been a solid 4.  They have decent prices, good food, and a lot of options.  Maybe next time I’ll try a burger; they looked pretty good.
